"Awww!! How cute" I thought, "She's so adorable!!" Or at least, that's what I would have thought if my brain hadn't been cut off by the dad yelling, "Abby! Let's GO!!!".
WHAT??!?!?! Is he kidding?! Who yells at their kids for trying to read?! Even if you're running late, the kids been acting up all day and you're all out of prozac...you encourage reading. Right?! I don't have kids, but I would think that encouraging her before rushing her off would be the preferred option. With dads like that out there no wonder so many of our kids are illiterate now a days.Wise up dad cause I'm with Billy Madison on this one - "Reading is good".
Unfortunately north americans live in a rush rush go-go society. They don't know any better. Daddy is a product of the system and soon too will little Abby. He doesn't know he is doing wrong because all his life he has been rushed too. His thought (or lack there of) was to keep on moving because there is something more important than his child reading or learning; spending fiat money on useless material, going to watch the "game" on the idiot tube or maybe running to see what CNn or FoxX was going update on the NasCarr race. Pathetic? Absolutely! Innate? Yes. Who does one blame? The system or society (parents). I'm leaning to the system because anywhere else in the world ie; Europe, Latin America, Autralia- that would NOT happen since they hold/belong to a system of take your time and enjoy life.
